The MozSource Mozilla Store closed in May after the Mozilla Foundation elected not to renew their contract.

So, Mozilla Store was closed almost three months.

I'm glad to see the Mozilla Store relaunch. There's new merchandise too, including a backpack and several Firefox-related books published by third-parties.

I hope that the "new" store is a lot faster in getting merchandise shipped out than the old one.

In any case, I look forward to ordering Firefox 1.1 on CD-ROM in the coming months.

On other topics, does anyone think it's odd that the current CD-ROMs ship as a set of two; one for Firefox and one for Thunderbird? Surely Firefox and Thunderbird could both fit on a single CD with room left over?

It's good to see the Mozilla Store is back, and under new management. It's also good to see some new items show up in the store, such as the ones mentioned previously in this thread, but I did notice the absence of a few items that were in the old store that are not available now, noteably the Mozilla 1.7 software and guidebooks.

The new store is operated by the Mozilla Foundation itself rather than the commercial Mozilla Corporation subsidiary because the Foundation sees it as a key mechanism for distributing and promoting Mozilla technology, rather than just a revenue-generating operation.

Ridiculous pricing at Mozilla Store

According to Mozilla Store's shipping info page, and this RTF document on shipping detail in particular. One T-shirt would cost customer US$109.81 for total cost to Australia.

1 Tee Shirt valued at $14.95 USD, shipping to Australia:
Order Value $ 14.95
Freight Charge $ 66.82
Duties and Taxes $ 17.99
Total Delivered Order Cost $109.81

I really wonder any rich Firefox supporters in Australia is willing to pay US$109.81 (+ 1.5% to 3% exchange surcharge on credit card) to buy one T-shirt that only worth US$14.95.

The shipping cost is far more reasonable now, it indicates US$11.39 for international shipping to Australia, as opposing to US$109.81 for a US$14.95 T-shirt. However, I noticed the T-shirt price has gone up.

So would I pay US$16.47 + US$11.39 (shipping) = US$27.86 for a Firefox T-shirt? Well, it's not an Abercrombie and Fitch T-shirt.

A few things to note (and this is why the International Store is beta):

(1) The store at this time will not have feature parity with the domestic store. There are a few items that you will not see that will rollout at a later date. These include the Firefox fleece and the Firefox flashlight.

(2) Some items look a little different than those in the domestic store because we have to source from different places. A good example of this is the Firefox backback.

(3) We are working on the Firefox 1.5 CDs for the international store. These are more complex to produce since we are including localizations on the CD as well as the en-US version.

(4) Countries in th EU should see the VAT included in the price of the item.

Good news: I ordered a Mozilla Firefox CD-ROM from the store earlier this month, and it arrived in the mail a week later. Compare that with the time I ordered a CD from the old store a year and a half ago, when it took well over a month!

Bad news: The CD-ROM contains the en-US versions of Firefox for Windows, Linux, and the Macintosh. That's all. This could almost fit on a Floptical disk!
