Some users in Apple Discussion reported that there are conflicts with this WMV Player and the newly released [sdt=10617]QuickTime 7.0.4[/sdt].

I have not tested this myself.

Version 2.0.1 is available from Flip4Mac.
Corrected a compatibility issue related to QuickTime v7.0.4.

Other Conflicts

Postby EddiePaxil » Tue 31 Jan, 2006 6:42 pm

Worked great with QT 6.5.2. Seems like a great little addition, for those who have the most current possible setups.

However I shouldn't have messed with it. It has caused tremendous conflicts with my Digidesign Core Audio. In fact I'm going to have to do a re-install. Serves me right. I should've known better with all the issues there have been with Quicktime and my older version of Pro Tools.

EddiePaxil,

Flip4Mac's WMA Component for QuickTime also causes problems for your Digidesign?

If my understanding of Flip4Mac is correct, it's just an audio/video plugin (into QuickTime's plugin folder), and can be disabled at anytime by moving the plugin files out of the folder.

Yeah that's what I would've thought. But it caused major issue with my Core Audio. That's the program that tells my system and Pro Tools where my Hardware is. The Digi 001.

Unfortunately, ever since I installed the plug in and even after uninstalling it. The system thinks the Hardware is being used. I uninstalled the plug in and no fix. I uninstalled Pro Tools the Re-Installed, and got it working somewhat but when closing a session it asks if I want to Debug then Quits anyway. The Core Audio is still shot too.

I went through all the troubleshooting reccomendations from Digidesign only to find that I can't Verify or Repai Disk Permissions either. I don't think this has to do with the Flip 4 Mac but it still stinks.

Eriel, did you upgraded to iTunes 6.0.2 on OS X 10.3.9?
You might want to see [sdt=10712]this thread[/sdt] for detail.

Yeah I did add ITunes 6.0.2. Thanks for that. Let me give it a try.

Flip 4 Mac working strong.

Postby EddiePaxil » Wed 01 Feb, 2006 4:51 am

Appears all my issues were coming from ITunes 6.0.2. Now that I resolved those I was able to test Flip 4 Mac better. I realized that it was a mere issue of working the Core Audio driver of my Digi 001 very hard. Essentially, 3 programs are open when playing a wmv through Flip 4 Mac off the net. Flip 4 Mac, Qquicktime, and the browser. You've got to make sure to quit out for normal Core Audio Function to resume.

Thanks again Anthony for all your help. It wasn't easy, but I got it all working normal again without doing a clean install.

Regards Eriel

I'm glad to see your Mac is back to normal.

Just a random tip,
we all know running Software Updates after a new installation can be a pain, and it is also recommended that we download Mac OS X 10.x.x Update Combo, that we don't need to download each subsequent updates.

However there are some updates not available in OS X Update Combo, and there's one way to save your time and internet quota (for re-installation OR multiple Macs):

Instead of simply click “Installâ€

According to Flip4Mac forum, it appears that Flip4Mac WMV Player is not compatible with Intel-based Macs yet.
