Donzilla 1.1PR1 Preview Builds

Postby Don_HH2K » Thu 23 Mar, 2006 10:32 pm

Well, here are the new Donzilla 1.1PR1 builds. Sorry they took so long to build, it's been nearly four months since the last release!

New notable features:
  • Improved RSS support, now works with HTML feeds
  • [sdt=11073]Chromeflat.vbs[/sdt] and [sdt=11070.php]Mozilla Profile Backup[/sdt] now included (Windows build only).
  • Core upgraded to Seamonkey 1.0 Final
  • Enhancement: Donzilla now has a Firefox-like About window.
(and, of course, a screenshot of the new window: )

Here are the download links:

EDIT: New componentizable installer confirmed to be non-working, has been pulled.

Why can't or shouldn't a direct link be linked?

Because it will get outdated once 1.1 final (and other versions) comes out. The other links will change the redirection.

If this version uses the same path for profiles, our easy-to-use, configurable and dot Mac supported Donzilla Backup ‘QuickPick’ should just work.

Well, I've done some testing, and found that the componentizable installer doesn't work after all. So, the link to that has been pulled until I manage to fix it, and the old non-componentizable installer has replaced it.

If I can't get this to work properly, then I may work on a separate frontend for removing components, if I can get that to work either.

By the way, you can download a componentized installer for Mac OS X here. Created using PackageMaker, so Antony can't complain that it's too un-Mac :P

The inferface in the Donzilla 1.1 PR1 is a whole lot better than previous version, Donzilla 1.0.

Thank Pu7o for the Aqua widgets on OS X, seeing that he makes the Mac builds for me. (I am still Mac-less.)

A componentized installer allows the user to select what components he/she wants to have installed to a given program. In the case of Donzilla, this might include options for Calendar, Chatzilla, Adblock, Googlebar, and such. A "main component" would also be installed, in this case, the base Donzilla package that is the browser and composer with nothing else, much like a NS Streamline Series, except with Donzilla rather than Netscape.

Any plan for Donzilla 1.1 PR2 or final?

Bug! OR was it intentional(*)?

Donzilla 1.1 PR1 is unable to launch application. I could launch an application from Firefox or SeaMonkey with a bit of delay. However, in Donzilla 1.1 PR1 the button stays grey. I was trying to launch iTunes to get a free single of the week.

Screenshot of launch application dialogue:

A cross up version of the above screenshot:

(Can't see the image above? Blame your unethical ads blocking software.)

I hope such setting of disallowing Donzilla to launch iTunes was not intentional.

(*) I do realise the creator of Donzilla blocks whichever ads he can, however disallowing Donzilla to launch an application undocumented is entirely another issue. I shall be able to find a suitable word to describe this.

This is what happened next:

First of all, you need not bother adding all of those footnotes -- I can see your screenshots perfectly.

Did you try this in Seamonkey 1.0.1 or 1.0? PR1 is 1.0-based, not 1.0.1-based, and something might have been fixed since then. I haven't included any code (to the best of my knowledge) that would prevent iTunes or ads from loading. If you look in Adblock's default preferences on a new file, you'll find that it's configured to block absolutely nothing.

Anybody else with iTMS/DZ1.1PR1-or-SM1.0 want to give this a shot, and see if they get the same error?

Another SeaMonkey window is opened to show the version number, other sections darkened and added some blurring filter to make the interested object clear.

I haven't programmed it to reject iTMS URLs, so I don't know exactly where that problem sprang out of.
