I didn't remove the whole SeaMonkey directory because I figured that it would remove my profile information. Anyways, I upgraded successfully.

I still won't delete it when I upgrade in the future - I customized my version slightly with a userChrome.css file - to make it use Luna-style menus. If I deleted the SeaMonkey folder, it would delete that file too, so I won't delete the folder to avoid having to recreate the file everytime I upgrade.
