Why is the Intel update twice the size as the PPC's ?

While by no means am I an expert on Mac OS X updates, I'd guess that the Intel builds are Universal Binaries, which tend to be qiute a bit larger than their PPC counterparts.

I guess Apple has better technology on writing codes for PowerPC CPUs than for Intel CPUs.
Or perhaps, more locking were applied to prevent those OS X theives.

Meanwhile, OS X 10.4.7 adds two-finder control-click for MacBook Pro users.

The Mac Observer wrote:The Mac OS X 10.4.7 update contained a pleasant surprise for MacBook Pro owners: Two-finger right-clicking is now an option. The feature can be enabled in the Keyboard & Mouse Preference Pane by checking Tap trackpad using two fingers for secondary click. The undocumented addition is good news for users that are slowed down by having to use the Control key when right-clicking, and for lefties since there is no Control key on the right side of the keyboard.

The intel update is twice the size of the powerpc update, because all the binaries in the Intel update are Universal, while the PowerPC update only has PPC binaries.

I doubt it, since 10.4.7 was cracked in less than 24 hours.

Those hackers must be arrested then tortured, and finally hanged.

Yet, before hanging them, they must build their own gallows. (Since Jesus carried his own cross.)

You don't think that's a tad too extreme? Even Kevin Mitnick only got five years in prison, and that was for hacking into the data of multiple large corporations. I'd like to think that hacking a single piece of software that's publicly available anyway would bear a lesser sentence.

It seems that with Mac OS X v10.4.7, it is now possible to have file transfers with MSN users with a Jabber transport on iChat.

I agree with Antony on that one. It's annoying to be the good guy while hackers point their fingers at you. They crack, access and copy files for free. It is disrespectful for the regular hard-working and legally-paying user and even more disrespectful for the creators.

Although it isn't exactly about copying Mac OS X and sending it further; I doubt this 24-hours hacker cracked it for good purposes.

What the security companies said when rating this new update?

At first, FrSIRT company said Critical Risk (4/4) at their
http://www.frsirt.com/english/advisories/2006/2566 advisory.

Later Secunia company assigned their Moderately Critilal (i.e. 3/5) advisory, see
http://secunia.com/advisories/20877/

There is delay of two days between these two advisories, my opinion is thst Secunia's advisory is more realistic, they had time to think about the severity. FrSIRT just wanted to be the first, maybe or maybe not..

The following updated information was released on Friday 30th June:
The install package that upgrades a Mac OS X v10.4.6 (Intel) system is being revised. The revision is to provide several files related to OpenGL performance that were missing.

Only the package that upgrades a Mac OS X v10.4.6 (Intel) system to Mac OS X v10.4.7 (Intel) is being changed. All other Mac OS X v10.4.7 install packages remain unchanged.
