OpenDNS, speeding up your internet connection.

Jo-Ann, khimkhoykhi, informed me that there's a free way to speed up your internet connection. Simply change the DNS setting to OpenDNS. According to this post in Philippine Macintosh Users Group and OpenDNS.com website, by changing your DNS setting (from the one provided by your ISP) to OpenDNS.com's will enable you to surf faster and safer.

From my networking knowledge (to Mr Jay Garcia's surprise, I did take a course in networking) using a different DNS could speed up internet connection if your ISP's DNS is not well configured or slow. It is also possible that a different DNS can provide a better "route" the website you want to visit.

As for their safer claim, they said they block phishing sites based on public data.

And, it's free.

Anyone who uses OpenDNS please let us know your experience.
