Greene County has now been upgraded to a Level III emergency which means roads are impassable, stay home. $100 fines issued to those out on roads unless you are considered emergency personnel.
The level III continues for Greene County in spite of the temporary break in the weather.
This break will not continue for long according to the weather officials - don't be deceived by it! The next large front is on its way and more heavy snow is coming. Accumulations will continue through the evening and night hours well into Sunday. Before it is all over, we may have up to 11 or 12 inches for the entire weekend.
At 6:40am the Sheriff's Department has declared Greene County under a Level III Snow Emergency. This means that only emergency travel is authorized under Ohio law. It is unknown when the snow emergency will be lifted, because the National Weather Service has declared a Winter Storm Warning for Greene and surroundings counties, and is predicating an additional 5 to 9 inches of snow and sleet by late Sunday evening. Of course, University vehicles are still grounded because of the weather conditions.
The main highways are drifting and most secondary roads have completely drifted shut with drifts from 2 to 4 feet. If you find yourself traveling because of a emergency, please use extreme caution.
People in warm climates may wish to enjoy their own weather or come to Ohio and shovel out my driveway.
