iMac LAN problems

Postby Purple Lizard » Sun 07 Jan, 2007 10:50 am

Hi all,
as you may or may not already know, I recentley bought a G3 iMac. It's working fine apart from one thing. Right now this is the only Mac I've got and all my other computers are Windows XP. Now I want to connect my iMac to my Netgear internet router so I can use my broadband internet connection, problem is, that it dosen't want to seem to find the network at all. I'm connecting it via a standard Cat 5 LAN cable and in the Network Preferences app it says that there is no ethernet cable plugged in to the built in ethernet. I have been trying this for a few weeks now but I've had no luck. I know the cable works because I've used it with my Win XP laptops before. Is there something I need to do to let my iMac join the Windows Workgroup that I'm using?

For reference it's a iMac G3, 400 MHz, 512 MB RAM, OS 10.3.9

Many Thanks
