Unable to write to mailbox

Postby crosscourt » Sun 11 Mar, 2007 3:28 am

I'm also having the same problem but I was worried about deleting all.msf files including the inbox. msf which is 1,615 kb. I had a total of 65 msf files some of which look like useful files
that I might need in the future. What does msf stand for ? Thanks

I don't know what .msf stands for, but those are header files. They are rebuilt, if deleted, basing in the equivalent file with no extention. The .msf files cannot be used, unless combined to the files with no extention. None of the 65 .msf files are useful by themselves. You can, safely, delete them from Windows Explorer, with your program closed. They will be rebuilt.
I have no idea what those 65 files are associated to. I thought that I had a lot of accounts (12), and I don't have that many files. And, you should not count Trash.msf, Junk.msf. You should, specifically look at the Inbox.msf, or maybe Sent.msf, which more likely to become corrupted.

Mail Summary File.
I haven't tested how it does it, but I believe that a .msf contains the names of the mail fields (Subject, Sender, Recipient, Date, ...) to be displayed; and which field is the index - and in which (ascending, descending) order.

The .msf file contains information about each message in the folder, such as:

whether or not a message has been read
whether it's been labeled (important, work, etc)
the way that messages are sorted in the folder
whether a message has received a reply
