Parallels, Inc. announced the release of their Release Candidate of Desktop 3 for the Mac. The new version features: hardware accelerated 3D graphics, snapshot backups, and a new sets of security settings.
The most important new feature of Parallels Desktop 3.0 for Mac is probably the native hardware 3D graphic support which includes OpenGL and DirectX. New tools includes Parallels SmartSelect for cross OS application and file integration, Parallels Explorer for offline access to virtual machine files, and Linux Tools for integration between Mac OS X and Linux.
Parallels Desktop is virtualisation software that allows other OSes, such as Windows and Linux, to run simultaneously along with Mac OS X.
Version 3 is priced at US$79.99. Current users will be able to upgrade to the new version from any previous version for US$49.99, or pre-order the upgrade for $39.99 (until 6th June 2007).
