Together with the [sdt=13747]new release of iMacs[/sdt], Apple also releases all-new wireless and wired keyboards. The new keyboards feature elegant anodised aluminium enclosure.



Apple Keyboard features special function keys for Mac features such as brightness, volume, eject, play/pause, Exposé and more.

The new Apple Keyboards are features the similar design as the keys in MacBook. The wired version has full key layout with document navigation controls and a numeric keypad. The wireless keyboard features compact low profile design. There's also an intelligent power management built-in that conserves battery life by automatically powering down the keyboard while not using it.





There are also some minor changes to the keyboard layout.

The most noticeable one should be the disappearing of Apple logo on the Command key ( ), instead, the word “[tt]command[/tt]â€

One thing I don't understand is why don't they offer full size keyboard in wireless model as well.

Some said that the wireless version is for people who want to more the keyboard anywhere, hence the compact design.

I will try it once they are available in Australia, and see if I like it. I am still very happy with my current Apple Wireless Keyboard that uses 4 AA batteries.

I tried the new Apple Keyboard (corded one) for about 20 minutes on Academy Store the other day, it feels great. Very comfort I have to say.

I have a feeling that I might buy one.

I bought the new Apple keyboard on Monday, the wired one. The new Apple Keyboard, although does not look comfortable to type, it is actually very comfy. I don't have to press the keys down the same depth as compared to previous Apple Pro Keyboard and Apple Wireless Keyboard I have. The thin profile also makes my hands more comfortable. In short, I like the new keyboard.

I could've bought the new Wireless version, but since I typed quite bit, the full range keyboard can be benefit to me. I think I can live with the extra cord. After few days of using the new keyboard, I'm still adjusting location of the special keys. I am used to F9-F11 for Exposé keys (it is now F3 by default), the sound control keys above the numerical keypad, and F12 for Dashboard. I will have to relearn the location of those special keys. Besides that, it is a great keyboard, comfortable to use and stylish.

There are actual full-sized wireless keyboards available, at least for PC's. I once used a wireless mouse/keyboard combo. It worked OK but the batteries in the keyboard drained pretty quick.

There are actual full-sized wireless keyboards available, at least for PC's. I once used a wireless mouse/keyboard combo. It worked OK but the batteries in the keyboard drained pretty quick.

The previous version of Apple wireless Keyboard (Bluetooth) was full size, same size as the wired one (previous version). I have the wireless one (and the wireless Mighty Mouse) when I bought the iMac.

Battery-wise, wireless keyboard aren't that bad. The wireless Mighty Mouse (Bluetooth and Laser sensor) drains very fast. (Detail about the batteries usage in wireless device is in [sdt=12499]this thread[/sdt].)

Apple has released first firmware update for Aluminum Keyboard first released in August last year.

This firmware update addresses an issue with the aluminum Apple Keyboard and the aluminum Apple Wireless Keyboard where a key may repeat unexpectedly while typing. The update also addresses other issues. Mac OS X 10.5.2 is required before installing this update.
