Firefox and Seamonkey file locations in Vista

Postby humpd » Thu 18 Jun, 2009 3:21 pm

I just got a new computer with Windows Vista installed. I want to transfer my mail, bookmarks, etc. in both FF and SeaMonkey. Where do I find those files in Vista? Thanks.

Windows 7, Norton Internet Security, Malwarebytes, Spywareblaster for my desktop and Avast for the laptop, user of Chrome and Firefox 9.01.

They're still in Application Data\Mozilla and are accessible via %appdata%\Mozilla in Windows Explorer. The full path should be something like, [tt]C:\Users\Don_HH2K\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla[/tt], replacing my user name with yours.

Starting location for all Mozilla-related product questions:
http://kb.mozillazine.org/Knowledge_Base

Scan through the Contents on the following. A wealth of information.
http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox - Bookmarks
http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_SeaMonkey - Bookmarks, Mail
http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Thunderbird - Mail

Look at not only the Locations section, but also at the Files and folders section.

For Bookmarks, because of the internal differences in the files, the safest and only practical way is to do an Export from the old, and then Import the resulting file into the new.

For Mail, just copy over the mail files; ignore the .msf files.
