migrate from Netscape 7.2 to Thunderbird first time for me

Postby daveam » Mon 02 Nov, 2009 3:56 pm

I have never done this before and i need some detailed instructions on how to migrate from Netscape 7.2 on one drive which has Windows 98 on it to Thunderbird on a different drive which has Windows 7 Home Premium on it. I have tried the import and it shows Netscape Communicator 4.x, Eudora, Outlook, Outlook Express. I have been working on this for a day or so and need help. Please

No it is not a dual boot system i am just trying to get the email and address book from the windows 98 drive to the windows 7 drive

It did not do the migrate for me when i installed it and not sure why and it is a 32-bit system

Is this a multi-boot system?
And just to confirm, from Win7 do you have visibility (using Explorer) to the files on the Win98 disk?

And presumably you are limiting your migration question to just the Mail function? That is, not the Browser (which presumably you would transfer to Firefox)? Or has this been done already?

Not sure what you mean. Anyway, while Netscape is a suite of browser and mail (under the same roof, Firefox and Thunderbird are independent programs, the former being browser only, the latter mail only.
If you have the information from Win98, and copy/paste it to your Window7, you should be able to manually transfer your files from the NS7 profile to the Thunderbird profile.
