Windows Internet Explorer = Old Swiss Cheese: Full of holes, and it stinks!

Congratulations to Mozilla Foundations, Mozilla contributors, Mozilla/Firefox users.... and, also thanks to Netscape Communications on opening Netscape source code and started the project in 1998.

I'm glad to say that I helped reach this milestone today, by having converted an IE user to Firefox 1.5b2, just this morning. :)

I've convinced a few people to ditch IE for Firefox over the last (nearly) 12 months.

Meanwhile . . . Breaking News . . .

100million+ Firefoxes on the loose . . . !

Reports are now coming in, that at least 100 million Firefoxes have now been unleashed on to the internet
by The Mozillians since 9th November 2004. Redmond's Fox Catchers fronted by Rear Admiral Ballmer,
have so far failed miserably to catch any of the Firefoxes at large. The bloated, blundering, dangerous
and deadly "Trident Monster of Redmond", although still the dominant force on the worldwide
interweb, with a share of around 86%, is still gradually being brought to it's knees by the
ongoing onslaught from the millions of Firefoxes currently running wild.

In other news, The Operatic Society, have recently joined in the fight against the deadly Trident Monster.

BTW . . . given the signifigance of the milestone, this thread ought to be "Sticky" . . .

Cnet News.com wrote: Just shy of Firefox's first birthday party, the Mozilla Foundation celebrated the 100 millionth download of its Web browser Wednesday.

Mozilla has seen steady adoption of its browser since its release last November. After a somewhat higher download rate immediately following its release, the browser has settled into between 200,000 and 300,000 downloads a day, said Asa Dotzler, the Mozilla liaison to the SpreadFirefox community.

"This is a great milestone. Our massive, worldwide community of grassroots marketers and users--not to mention the developers--have helped to put out a product that's really kicking butt," he said.

I haven't convinced anyone to ditch IE, but most people I know use Firefox more often then before. I have convinced a few to switch to Mac :-)

Same here. It's always a good feeling when you know they have "seen the light," especially when you convert those who swore by IE to the death (Yeah, there are some still out there.) Usually it's just a matter of having one too many browser hijackers or drive-by, auto-installing, spyware pop-ups before they say enough is enough. All the people I have converted away from IE have never gone back, thankfully.

Getting Firefox into the big corporations is the next key step. It's an uphill battle where I work, but since they're seriously considering Linux, there is hope. :-)

Well thank you. How nice of you to remember :P .

Anyways, it's great news to hear Firefox has been downloaded 100m times. Although I doubt this will count for 100m unique downloaders, this counts for millions of users.
