Dubbing Vocals

Postby bluecowl » Wed 09 Nov, 2005 10:50 pm

Would someone be able to tell me the best way to dub vocals? I'm trying to create a Flash cartoon, but my vocals have too much static.

I have a G4 Powerbook. I am doing it with GarageBand, and am using a Logitech headset for the microphone. I'm looking for an affordable way to create decent vocals...my goal is to do it without background static! Does anyone know what might be the best microphone and software combo.....I'm hoping to keep it under $100.

I appreciate any help.
Thanks!

Have you tried using PowerBook's built-in microphone? Some people reported the result was quite good, although not "professional."

Otherwise, you will need to look for a microphone, which I am not the expert on this field.

I'm going to guess you're already using the built in mic. That is sometimes the cause of the static. To get clearer vocals you'll need a dedicated soundcard and a basic dynamic mic. Garageband will work better with he better hardware. Go to www.musiciansfriend.com and check out the M-Audio Fast Lane http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7/g=r ... d/703606V/ $80. Then get a basic Dynamic mic like the Kustom KM-4 http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7/g=r ... id/270720/ $16.00. It even brings a mic Cable. Total price $96. Should get clearer voice recordings at up to 24 bit 48KHz.

Hey, thanks for your input. I will definitely look into those devices as an option.

Take care.
