PR1 is based on the Seamonkey 1.0b (Mozilla 1.8) codebase. There have been quite a few changes to the code; more than when we did the transition from Netscape 7.2 to Mozilla 1.7. To get Calendar to register properly, it turned out that Donzilla needed to be compiled from source. Thanks to Pu7o for doing all the compile work, without him we'd still be stuck on the 1.7 branch. The current code for Calendar is actually based on Mozilla Sunbird, so basically what's running in Donzilla now is more Sunbird than Mozilla Calendar.
Regular Adblock has some quirks with 1.8, so I've switched over to Adblock Plus.
1.8 has the built-in ability to copy images to the Windows clipboard, so there's no more need for the CopyImage extension. This also restored functionality to the "Save Image As" option, which CopyImage broke.
Furthermore, Chatzilla was upgraded to 0.9.69, and Wmlbrowser was upgraded to 0.6.10.
Okay, now to bugs.
The Sunbird UI in Mozilla has a bit of a problem (a you can see here) concerning toolbar padding and the alignment of the text to the buttons. I've found that by using DOM Inspector to remove the Sunbird logo, I can correct the height problem of the toolbar; when I put the Donzilla logo in there, it should look better, since the logo is 32x32 while the Sunbird logo is 48x48.
The throbbers in everything else have a border problem; I have diagnosed this to be a problem with the throbber itself, not the interface. There are two things I can do: 1) edit the border out of the existing throbber, or 2) do what I did with the Moz1.7 releases and edit Communiator's CSS files to not render the border. Basically, what's there right now is two borders: one drawn by Seamonkey and one included in the throbber.
The "Debug" and "QA" menus are still in the Navigator interface; I have yet to take those out.
I got the titlebar to stop displaying the "Build ID: date" part that is found on compiled builds, but I have yet to take out the {} placeholders.
The default profile files have to be edited to reflect the new URL for HardwareHacks; this includes the HH2K sidebar and bookmarks. Everything else has been updated accordingly with the new URLs.
Why is this build so rough? I wanted to get a 1.8 build out to the public, as that reflects the major change from 0.8 to 0.9. Plus, if I don't do it while I sitll have the weekend at hand, it just won't get done. The interface will undergo its work in the next release. Please note: MAF is not available in the Linux and Mac OS X builds at this time.
Downloads: No Bitrock at the moment, I have yet to reinstall it.
- Download Donzilla 0.9 PR1 for Windows, self-extracting EXE, you'll need to create icons manually at the moment
- Download Donzilla 0.9 PR1 for Linux, .tar.bz2 format
- Download Donzilla 0.9 PR1 for Mac OS X, compressed CD image (as usual, no guarantee on this build's functionality)
