mighty mouse and netscape 7.2

Postby jmusich » Mon 20 Feb, 2006 9:17 pm

This mighty mouse of mine is bouncing web pages all over like some sort of time machine going back and forth through my activities history. I know there is a setting for mice but I'm not sure how to use it. Or is there something else going on ? I've been using netscape for years and i'm trying safari out while I find out if there's a solution for this problem. :(

Hello jmusich,

Welcome to SillyDog701.

This is a problem from Mozilla people, they put the horizontal scrolling as the default for forward/back history. They do not know that it's extremely hard to scroll perfectly straight when using a Mighty Mouse.

Please [sdt=9658]this thread[/sdt] for detail. In short, simply type [tt]about:config[/tt] in the location bar, and change
[tt]mousewheel.horizscroll.withnokey.numlines[/tt] to [tt]1[/tt]
[tt]mousewheel.horizscroll.withnokey.action[/tt] to [tt]0[/tt]

more mighty mouse ??

Postby jmusich » Tue 21 Feb, 2006 7:43 am

Thanks for the response ! I've read the thread. interesting ! Any idea if and when this will be corrected ?

Further questions :

1) What is the "location bar ?"
Is it the url locatiin at the top of browser ?

2) Will these settings changes lock out the mouse from scrolling at all ?

3) Do the changes only take place in browsers using mozilla ?

thanks again

Yes, the place where you type URL.

No. it only changes the settings of horizontal scrolling in Netscape 7.2

Yes, and you have to check for each different Mozilla (Gecko)-based browsers (or each profile).
