8.1 download and install

Postby kurtzern » Mon 03 Apr, 2006 8:29 am

When I download, save to disk, and then run the 8.1 update, about 30 seconds into the installation process I receive the message: "Internal Connectivity Error: Socket Error 30270."

Help, please?

(Dell 8250; WinXP Prof SP2; 1 gig RAM; over 50% of hard disk free.)

I am guessing on this one, based on some past experience.
There complete downloads, and "stub installers". The stub installers are much smaller, less than one MB in size, and, they require download of the rest of the program, as you install.
The download may stop at one time, for a variety of reason ( I like alerts of the type: connection reset by peer. those ain't no perr of mine!).
So, if you have a stub installer, use the complete installer. Otherwise, make sure that your Temp folder is empty.
