SeaMonkey = Swiss Army Knife: It's versatile, reliable, and contains useful tools.
Windows Internet Explorer = Old Swiss Cheese: Full of holes, and it stinks!

Thanks DJGM for reporting.

Does anyone have any feedback on this version? Anything besides doing a useragent test?

deleted opera 9 went back to 854
9 was slow and sluggish.
also when the opera browser 9 was closed it tended to hang.
when ctrl alt delete was used opera was sill there even when the browser was closed.
when the computer was shut down it did not shut down properly
the reviews are not that great on the opera forum.

I had no problem with mine. It is as fast as anything I ever had, and, it shuts down fast and completely. My problem is with the installation. I was given the choice to install Opera9 on top of Opera8.54, and, it worked beautifully. The glitch is that I had, also, Opera9 PR2 in another directory. And, the add/remove lists two Opera9, differing in zie by less that 0.1 MB. There is no indication which is which (one has the classic red O, while the other has the size type of icon seen with the installer. I have made no attempt to access the PR2.
Anyway, this is build 8501, and, I like it.

I uninstalled Opera9, and then reinstalled it in another folder, i.e. that of PR2. I have only a 5.11MB installation in the Add/Remove. This installation picked up my 9.0PR2 profile which has 9 tabs, instead of only one. It still works great.

There is no such file, and., I did a search to see if it would be in an unexpected place. I, also, could find nothing about such file doing a web search.
Do you have it? Orm how do you know about it? A Google search came up with some item which has nothing to do with the issue. I, just gave one example.

when opera was installed it created that file.
when opera was 9 was deleted the file was deleted.
suspect it has something to do do the msi installer it uses.
when one looks at the opera forums about 9 it looks like opera 9 is a disaster.
opera 8.54 is a lot better .

Can't say that Opera 9 has been a disaster for me. So far, all is functioning as it should. I think what you're seeing on the Opera forum is just the problems. The hundreds of thousands who have downloaded Opera 9 and not experienced any problems, don't generally post that all is well. Just my two cents' worth. 8-)

We are still working on fixing bugs so here you have the first builds 9.01
Enjoy :-)

PS opera:about still says 9.00 even if it is 9.01

Some of this problems may be personal, others I am not sure. For instance, the blog says that a certain site crashes in Opera9. It sure does. In FF1.5.0.4 it does not, but all it shows is a link like this:
Boom
. Would you be be so stupid to click on it?
For me, Opera9 works fine. I am not an Opera user, so I have not gone deeply into it. All I know is that it has given me no problem. I am with James, here.
And that I will stay away from the blog. Who cares about oddball problems?

Using the "Mask as Internet Explorer" option does not work well. I tried it on VH1.com, Yahoo.com (music), AOL.com and a couple of others. when i do this, i'm instructed to please install macromedia flash player. which is already installed. also, on some sites you are instructed to install or upgrade your windows media player which is already installed. I was hoping for some improvement with this issue. I can't see the point of using a browser that does not work well on a lot of sites. Then you have to constantly switch to IE or use the "InIE" option in opera. One thing i do like about opera is the fact that it has a built in mail program. But not much was done to improve this. These are just my comments and Opinions. Please no feedbacks with anger. Those who love Opera, God Bless you. I don't hate it. But i'll stick with firefox for now.

 DiscoFever...OUT!!

I never got used to Opera Mail. In fact, I am not sure if I have any more than a single account. As for the Mask as IE, I did not try the feature. Its failure may not, necessarily, be due to Opera, but rather to the websites. AOL and Yahoo, and I am sure VH1, i are using sniffers, and will not even let you through, whether you have the plugins or not.
As a comparison, I use FF1.5.0.4 with its IE Tab extention. Thus equipped, I can use it to do Windows Updates downloads.
As for the plugins, Opera8.54, since uninstalled, had only the Java files, but my 9.0 has all the plugins which I use in Firefox. For good measure, I copied/pasted most of them from the Firefox plugins folder.
But, sites like AOL Music demand Active X, and there is no Active X plugin which is compatible with Opera, AFAIK. There is one for FF1.5.0.4, and it does nothing for Opera.
If someone knows how to enable the ActiveX plugin, please let me know (Opera claims that the ActiveX plugin should be usable)
