Google Browser Sync tool released

Postby J-M » Fri 09 Jun, 2006 5:52 am

Google has recently released Browser Sync for Firefox tool as an extension. From the company's Introduction page:

Google Browser Sync for Firefox is an extension that continuously synchronizes your browser settings – including bookmarks, history, persistent cookies, and saved passwords – across your computers. It also allows you to restore open tabs and windows across different machines and browser sessions.

I'd assume this requires a Google account? (e.g. Gmail)

So after Gmail, Google Spreadsheet, Google Calendar, I start to feel that one single company has too much personal information about individuals.

This might make FBI's job easier.

It appears that it doesn't require. I have installed that extension a minute ago but not restarted my browser yet.

Good point. But why FBI's, why not NSA's? :D

You will need to restart your browser to enable Google Browser Sync.

As I guessed, it does require a Google account to function.

After relaunching browser, and passing a warning message, you will see this:

The Google account ID is displayed in the toolbar:

I just pick one up. Actually, for all of them.

Thanks for the informative screenshots.

Yes, I noticed that Google Account is needed. I have not an account and I'll not test this tool.

Without signing in Settings... and Reconnect options in the toolbar are disabled.
