Postby beanboy89 » Wed 30 Aug, 2006 3:13 pm

The SeaMonkey Council has made available SeaMonkey 1.1a. Some new features include yellow highlight in the URL bar when visiting HTTPS sites, a tab tooltip preview, and inline notification of mipselled words in text boxes.

A full listing of new features is available in the release notes.

Trying it out right now. :)

I like the new mail notification window that scrolls up from the lower right corner of the screen, up to now, I only saw this with the Windows release.

The address (URL) bar changes to yellow when on a secure web site (https://).

The Linux release has an improved startup script.

Just wondering if this version of SeaMonkey is stable?
I notice the 1.1a is the last version for SeaMonkey in here and was posted a few months ago. Is it dead or what?
Enquiring minds want to know :D

Lorraine,

The latest stable version of SeaMonkey is v1.0.5, while v1.1a is the first official test build of the next major release.
SeaMonkey v1.1a is mainly for developers and testers, although regular end users are welcome to try it out too.

If you're not into testing pre-beta software that may be full of bugs, and crash a lot, stick with v1.0.x for now.

SeaMonkey = Swiss Army Knife: It's versatile, reliable, and contains useful tools.
Windows Internet Explorer = Old Swiss Cheese: Full of holes, and it stinks!

I've been testing out the "nightlies" (also for testers/developers) of 1.0.6 for a while now and haven't encountered any problems. It would seem that 1.0.6 would be released before 1.1 is.
