200 Euros for a pair of jeans with an iPod dock/ribbon cable built into a pocket? I think I'll pass.

How do you wash those? The last time I washed a pair of headphones, they broke.

You pay for the brands (Levi's and iPod).

Somehow, I think I'd rather have the non-branded versions then.

Cnet Asia has a nice detailed review on Levi's RedWire DLX (aka iPod jeans)

Perhaps the most interesting thing in Levi's RedWire DLX jeans is the fibre-like connector (soft electronic component from Fibretronic to exact), and it's washable.

Image

The RedWire connector is nothing new. It's based on a soft electronic component solution from Fibretronic which allows textile products to be integrated with electronic connectivity. In the DLX, the Fibretronic connector ribbon is colored a trademark Levi's red and it's washable.
Once the RedWire is attached, the iPod is slipped into a side pocket on the right pant leg. It's hidden so there's no bulge indicating the existence of the iPod. However, we fault Levi's for not designing a more protective enclosure for the iPod. The side pocket could have been made using a thicker material to soften the blow in the event of an impact. And regular protective covers for the iPod cannot be used to remedy this oversight since the cradle dock's design precludes the use of such.

Cnet Editors gave it 7.5/10 rating.

And the cost? S$449.5 (converts to US$285.98), that's more than enough for a new iPod nano or even the 30GB iPod (video, US$ 249).

$285.98? They said €199 on whatever site was linked, and I'm sure that the exchange rate of euros to dollars isn't that high. Did Levi's up the price?

I still don't understand how you can wash a pair of headphones or the iPod control stuff in those jeans.

It was converted from Singapore dollars. You were complaining the price being too high in Singapore.

Then what's with...

What was wrong with that?

The price info was the price in Singapore dollar, and for reader's convenience, the equivalent in US dollars is also provided.

Price in Singapore does not necessary means it's same as in the States.

I'm aware of that. Please read what I said:

$285.98 in US dollars is more than the $252.00 (converted from €199) mentioned in that blog post earlier.

In any case, $252 is a lot of money for a pair of jeans.

I also said, "You were complaining the price being too high in Singapore." Which it stands correct.

What was the question about?

The price in other countries outside USA does not get changed daily.

I agree 100%. Heck, I think anything above $50 USD is too way expensive for a pair of jeans.
