It's always a good idea to make a backup of your browser profile.

You don't need to do anything, but make sure Netscape is not running at the time when SeaMonkey is running (so there won't be a problem caused by using the same profile.)

It is easy to uninstall Netscape, and, then reinstall it, if SM is not to your likings. I think that it is a good idea to remove the temptation. Seamonkey is installed in a separate folder, so I don't know what is meant by "going over the top". The fact is that both programs will be present, and, both programs will be able to access the single profile.
I removed NS7.2, and, picked up its profile with SM, but eventually, I had to create a separate profile for SM, although I never went back to NS7.2.

Well last time I dloaded Seamonkey for some reason it went over the top of Netscape
picked up all the settings etc, It would not let me run Netscape at all
So when I took it off I had too reload and start again lost all my addresses bookmarks etc
as it seems they share some of the same files in the registary
When you say back up I am not a computer wizz what you do mean by that I have saved my addresses and bookmarks
Guess the amail that I have will all be lost was last time

How do I install it so it does not pick up any of Netscape and I also have 3 profiles on Netscape although when I go too Profile manager it says default
I am just asking all these questiosn before I start so I do not get into trouble

Or lastly should i go thunderbird Firefox,
I am used too the suite though with the emails being part of the same programme
this is why i use Netscape as I am not an IE fan never have been and do not have outlook even set up
Pity Netscape has gone its all I ever used so changing is a huge step as this is the only broswer since coming onto the net I have used except when I have too use IE For XP updates so as you can see its only Netscape I know

Mousies,

If you want to ensure that SeaMonkey doesn't pick up your Netscape Profile:

First:
Create a new folder on the C: drive and name it Backup
Next:
Browse to the Profiles folder located here:
[tt]C:\Documents and Settings\user_name\Application Data\Mozilla\Profiles[/tt]
Right click the Profiles folder, and select Copy
Then go to the newly created Backup folder, right click, and select Paste

Now you have a backup of your Profiles folder. Do this frequently as a preventive maintenance task.

Now:
Ensuring that SeaMonkey doesn't pick up the Netscape Profile:
Return to the Profiles folder
Open the folder and right click the Netscape Profile which is similar to this:
[tt]C:\Documents and Settings\user_name\Application Data\Netscpe\Profiles\your_profile_name[/tt]
Select: Cut
Next: right click the Backup folder and select Paste

Install SeaMonkey, and it will create its own Profile folder.
Once installed, you can then copy the Netscape Profile from the Backup folder, and paste it into the Profiles folder.
