Thanks for the update. While I was still running an older version of SeaMonkey on my computer (1.0.5), this suddenly appeared on my screen:

It kind of surprised me somewhat because I didn't think SeaMonkey had an upgrade notification feature. I don't really like the way it just takes you to the download site to upgrade. Although downloading the full install file is no problem with me (I have a fast connection), people with slow connections would suffer. An upgrade feature similar to Firefox would be nice. :)

The version of Seamonkey that I am using won't send any email, but still receives mail. The settings *are correct!!
If I install this version on top of 1.0.1 will it correct the problem? Although the settins are correct, Adelphia tells me the problem is with Seamonkey but I don't see how that is possible when settings are OK...they said something must have changed but I did not change anything...this happened all of a sudden this AM and still won't send.

Seamonkey can't be downloaded from the site you give. It has a whole list of things but clicking on any of them gives a message that Seamonkey cannot open that file. But there is nothing there that says *download*.???????

Dixie,

The site works for me with no problem. Try clicking on Tools | Download Manager
Highlight everything listed, and then click on the "Remove from list" tab.

In Edit | Preferences | Navigator | Downloads
Have you selected a folder for your Downloads?

Navigate to the C:\Program Files\mozilla.org\seamonkey\components folder:

• Delete: compreg.dat or (rename)

Navigate to the
C:\Program Files\Common Files\mozilla.org\GRE
Delete: 1.8.0.4_2006051612
Next:
Navigate to the salted (*.slt) folder

• Delete: downloads.rdf (or rename)
• Delete: mimeTypes.rdf (or rename)

• Delete: history.dat
• Delete: XUL.mfl
• Delete: Cache folder

SeaMonkey will rebuild these files/folder on restart.

(The last three items are general maintenance, and should be deleted on a regular basis.)

If you are still unable to download, then it may be necessary to uninstall/reinstall SeaMonkey.

For your mail problem, check this page for workarounds: Can't Send Mail

Your can't send mail link is using Netscape...I am using Seamonkey. It is Seamonkey that won't send mail.

I download everything to my desktop and then I put it in a downloads folder in my documents.

THe url you give to dl Seamonkey doesn't have any dowmloads in it. It has something called Parent Directory and a whole list of things but dosn't say what is a download for the new Seamonkey.

I cannot find any slt files in Seamonkey.
I found the download somewhere else...can I install it right over this Seamonkey 1.0.1? I don't want to lose all my mail for the third time.

The profile for Seamonkey is still on my desktop instead of in mozilla profiles and it doesn't have a cache for some reason so I delete the cache from edit/prefs/advanced/cache.

The Solutions page will work for SeaMonkey also, even tho it says Netscape/Mozilla. Guess I should update it to include Seamonkey!

The SeaMonkey download on that page, is for Windows, Mac, and Linux. There are two downloads for Windows, a Zip file, and an .exe file:

Executable: seamonkey-1.0.6.en-US.win32.installer.exe
Zip: seamonkey-1.0.6.en-US.win32.zip

I cannot find any slt files in Seamonkey.

I would definitely not install over 1.0.1, there have been several updates since then and some of the older files won't be compatible.

If you back up before uninstall/reinstalling you can't lose anything.

The profile for Seamonkey is still on my desktop instead of in mozilla profiles and it doesn't have a cache for some reason so I delete the cache from edit/prefs/advanced/cache.

Your SeaMonkey Profiles folder should be located here:

[tt]C:\Documents and Settings\user_name\\Application Data\Mozilla\Profiles[/tt]

I would move the Profiles folder from the Desktop and place it in the Mozilla folder:
[tt]C:\Documents and Settings\user_name\\Application Data\Mozilla[/tt] folder.

That is no doubt why there is no *.slt folder, and with no *.slt folder there can be no Cache folder. I'm surprised that you Mail worked at all, unless your Server settings pointed to the Desktop.

I have SM 1.0.5 and XP for browser. Is there an advantage for me to download SM 1.0.6? If I do the download do I need to uninstall 1.0.5 first? Thank you for any advice you can give. I use the SM mail program. I still have IE in there also. Seldom use it. Only when necessary.

cemed,

SM 1.0.6 is a security fix update, which includes several secuirity patches. It is strongly recommended that you
upgrade to this version. Furthermore, there's no need to uninstall v1.0.5, as v1.0.6 can be installed over it.

SeaMonkey = Swiss Army Knife: It's versatile, reliable, and contains useful tools.
Windows Internet Explorer = Old Swiss Cheese: Full of holes, and it stinks!
