After Hurricane Katrina, Robert Davis, a black retired elementary school teacher returned to New Orleans to inspect his properties was beaten by white Police officers. In February 1999, a 23 year old unarmed African immigrant Amadou Diallo was shot dead in a hail by New York Police with 41 bullets. The officers were charged with second-degree murder and reckless endangerment first, but later all charged were acquitted (i.e. not guilty).
