Ad-aware kept stopping. I searched on "Ad-aware stops", and got into a Lavasoft forum where this is addressed.
Lavasoft is aware of the problem but does not have an answer. They ask that one do a lot of stuff and then send to them a log.
A rootkit may be involved, which I believe would make the user susceptible to a hijack.
I would stay away from Ad-aware
