Isn't MacOS now based on Linux in some form? Last I checked, Linux was open-source. :)

Actually no, it's based on NeXTStep and the Mach kernel... :wink:

Not talking about our beloved QuickTime is totally against any code of ethics; No punishment can be enough other than immediate execution by hanging!*

If it one thing users of MacOS and Linux can actually AGREE on, is that both of our operating systems are NOT from Microsoft. :D

Guys,

if you just want to mention a bit of off-topic stuff, that's fine. Too much off-topic posts would simply make it hard for everybody to follow and to look back this thread. Please use another thread or start a new thread for gallows, OS-war discussions.

Please talk about hangings, gallows, open source extremism, Quicktime being required etc. in here, not in any other thread! :lol:

Sounds good to me. (Or does it? I'll have to build a good lot of gallows at this rate.)

Then, shall I recommend iGallow, the easy gallow construction kit by Apple Corp. Guaranteed to produce stunning pain at amazingly low price-rates. Get it now, for only $39.99. More pain and less instability than the competitor Microsoft Gallows XP Professional, which for $399 builds gallows with much less stability (the rope breaks a lot) and with far less painful deaths.

How many gallows do you need? (Or what crimes did you commit?)

What crimes did I commit? Well, so far, I believe I've been accused of:

Not installing QuickTime, using the VC-1 video codec instead of H.264, prefering WMP to iTunes, being an open-source extremist, using Windows, using an Turion 64 X2 processor rather than a Core Duo processor, owning an x64 laptop, not owning a Mac, not really wanting a Mac anyway, using 4:3 video equipment instead of 16:9 equipment, being a cheap bastard, not using Safari, not worshiping Safari, not wanting a 30" Apple Cinema Display, not having the space for a 30" Apple Cinema Display, writing programs with the .NET Framework, using Firefox, using a 64-bit Firefox, using a 64-bit operating system, not wanting to downgrade to a 32-bit operating system, encoding H.264 video without using QuickTime Pro, playing back H.264&AVC without QuickTime, full-screening any video whatsoever without using QuickTime Pro, being Catholic instead of Appleist, being a rich white American boy with no respect for other people, not listening to rap music, owning two non-Mac compatible printers, drinking Pepsi products rather than Coke products, having a few friends that are Mac bashers, using CRT monitors, using non-Energy Star-compliant junk, not wearing iBoxers, not buying iBoxers, not wearing iPod jeans, not buying iPod jeans, not owning an iPod to put in them anyway, not wanting an iPod in the first place, encoding video to containers other than .mov/.mp4, using an analog television and camcorder, prefering a Motorola v60 to a Sony Ericsson T610, not having an iTunes-capable phone, pointing out that QuickTime 7 isn't required to play back H.264 video, calling a Mac god an extremist when he actually makes it require QuickTime 7, running an IIS server, running a server without an Xserve, coding a website in ASP.NET, not making my programs and websites HIG-compliant, talking to a guy that has OS X 10.5, pointing out that someone isn't black, pointing out that adding color is not the same as "color restored", removing added color, failing to acknowledge that removing added color is actually "color destroyed", having a DVD+/-RW DL drive, wanting to upgrade the firmware on that DVD+/-RW DL drive, having a wireless card that exceeds current specifications and implements a draft standard, talking to Ron, pointing out that someone speaks English, pointing out that someone isn't poor, using PNG instead of JPEG, using PNG-8 instead of PNG-24 to compare to JPEG, writing standards-compliant XHTML, failing to acknowledge that the .NET Framework is a mockup of Java, needing the latest of everything...

My fingers are tired, do I need to go on?

Good. That way I can take the quick and cheap route: instead of building gallows, I can just ask id Software to insert me into Doom 3 without any weapons.

I might as well note that iGallow supports automatic gallow construction via AppleScript :P

Why bother learning AppleScript if I'm going to die anyway?

By my accounts, that makes it up to 63 gallows. As such, you can use such a program in java:
Code: Select all
for (i=1; i<=63; ++i) {
     Gallow g=new Gallow();
     g.hang("Don_HH2K");
}
