flashgot extension

Postby Brian003 » Mon 27 Sep, 2004 12:12 pm

I recently experimented with the flashgot extenstion
http://software.informaction.com/catalo ... t&page=faq troubleshooting 1.1.
But after I couldn't get rid of the problems I uninstalled netscape 7.2
then realised I should have deleted the flashgot script. which I did later.
When I reinstalled 7.2 the mail seemed to work but not the browser, and vice versa, same with Mozilla. If I try to use the mail and browser together they hang and I have to close them with the task manager. However Netscape 7.1 has no problem. Of course I had also deleted the gre file before I reinsatlled 7.2. And my restore points won't let me roll back either. Is there a way to fix this or should I just be happy with 7.1?

I think this this is a Firefox extention, and I would not install in 7.2 unless I know how to remove it. The fact is, where are the files? Everyone aims for the program first, which usually does not accomplish too much. Many extentions are installed in the profile. and, the profile is not touched by the uninstallation of the program. Do you have two separate profiles for Netscape and Mozilla? I hope so. In such case it seems that the extention was installed in both programs. Was this done this way?
My suggestion is to create a new profile. But, first report your present situation, i.e. one or two profiles.

1 profile

Postby Brian003 » Mon 27 Sep, 2004 12:46 pm

For all intents I have 1 profile. I don't count the other because it's incomplete. Anyway the extension or error went across all of my browsers mozilla and net7.2 and firefox except 7.1 which was not installed at the time.

Firefox has a profile of its own, while Netscape and Mozilla should have separate profiles.
I am trying to diagnose your problem, but I am not getting much of an input. What browser were you using when you installed the extention?
If you were using Firefox, it should not do this, but if you have NS7.2 and a Mozilla installed, and you have only one profile, you would have a problem sooner or later.
If this is the case, create a new profile for each Netscape or Mozilla. You can get necessary files later.
I cannot give you links, if you do not know how to create a profile, as I am in a weird browser.

Postby Brian003 » Mon 27 Sep, 2004 3:07 pm

I was using mozilla because I had a mass downloader extenion with firefox already. I supose I could get around to making a new profile but since net 7.1 works I just may put it off for a while. Thanks anyway I'll have to get back with you to let you know if it succeded. I was kinda hoping for a d'oh smack the forhead, I could do this instead moments, but no such luck. I guess dems da breaks.

Flashgot Extension

Postby ray5450 » Thu 21 Dec, 2006 4:23 am

I just installed Flashgot to Firefox. My download manager is Flashget. If I right click a URL to download the file, then choose "Flashgot Link" from the menu, Flashget opens (as it should), but then nothing else happens--no download(?). Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Have you tried that with other download managers. like net transport which is the basically the same thing. You've got flashget set on manual or auto download. I've switched to flashget (since Net transport is now making you pay) and have mine set to manual in case I want to change directories.

Flashgot

Postby ray5450 » Fri 22 Dec, 2006 6:26 am

I only use Flashget.

I am not sure what you are suggesting to me. Please, clarify.

After clicking "Flashgot Link" I would expect Flashget to open and either start downloading, or Flashget to open and have its "New Download" box open with the URL copied in, but it does neither and I am asking if anyone knows why it does not?

Thanks.

I was suggesting that maybe you could try another downloader to see if it was flashget (the mass downloader) or flashgot the extension. Have you used the flashgot options to choose your downloader?

Yes, I have selected Flashget in the Flashgot options. That is why when I choose a link with Flashgot, Flashget does open, but that is all it does.

But I am also suggesting that if you select another mass downloader, fresh download, leechget etc. and they work then maybe you need to re install flashget.

Flashgot

It would be much easier just to reinstall Flashget and/or Flashgot, which I did (both), and now it works fine--just one of those simple fixes. Thanks, again.
