Postby cemed » Tue 27 Mar, 2007 3:50 pm

Will the IE tab work for Firefox as it does for Seamonkey?
Thanks

I think that you want to uninstall in Seamonkey. Take a look at this mozillazine link
Please, read the entire thing, so that you get the picture.

I don't recall having such a hard time unstalling IEtab the last time I used it and deleted it which was about two years ago I think. If I go back to internet explorer for my browser would it be okay to leave IEtab in case I would go back to Firefox? I'm 80plus years old and I enjoy tinkering with different programs on my computer but I do get into areas where I need expert help as you folks provide.
I have read the mozillazine.org information you sent and trying to get a sense of direction and how to use it.
Thanks for all the help and information.

You can keep IE Tab. I agree that it is a pain in not having an easy way to uninstall extentions. I have been using the Extention Uninstaller and its .api extentions, and that's enough to remove the function of the extention, but not all files. It is a pain whichis being addressed. I don't have any idea when they will come up with a version of Seamonkey which can handle extentions in an easy way. I have ben looking at some nightlies, and I gave up trying to understand. They have to modernize Seamonkey, or else it will be a relic of the past.
Keep up the good work. I am getting up there in age, as well, and I hope that I will be able to do what you do now, in the future.

While on Firefox2.0.0.3 browser I clicked tools then clicked add-ons and it brought up a menu showing IEtab extention disable or uninstall. I did neither as I'm not ready to uninstall the tab as. I wonder if you were aware of this and/or if it really was a sulution to uninstall the IEtab.

You may have not understood that I meant what I said about Seamonkey. Seamonkey needs help to do anything like uninstalling, while that capability is built-in Firefox.
I know that they are working on something which will allow Seamonkey users to do things like uninstall. I did not look back, but there was a question like yours at another newsgroup.
The new "Seamonkey" will be called, tentatively Suiterunner, but it has a long way to go.
By the way I got this:
A: There are four ways.

* Install the Extension Manager extension, and uninstall extensions through it. This is the easiest, though it does leave some trails in your chrome files.
* Install the Mnenhy extension and use its Chrome Manager to uninstall extensions.
* Delete the chrome folder from your profile folder while SeaMonkey is closed. However, keep in mind that this will delete all your extensions that were installed, and only those that are in your profile. Most extensions are installed in the profile, though.
* Manual removal. I only know how to do this for extensions that are installed in the profile. Do this while SeaMonkey is closed. Go to your profile folder, and open the chrome folder. There'll be a .jar file for each extension installed. Delete the one that is from the extension that you want to delete. Open the overlays.rdf file, and delete the entries referencing to the extension. Do the same for chrome.rdf.
