IN SEARCH OF MOTHER BOARD AND A RIGG THAT GOES WITH IT...

Postby cem » Tue 17 Apr, 2007 2:00 pm

Hi, I am both sound and film man and consequently I need a machine that capable of cutting movies and making music. I haven't been able to feel safe with what's going on out there, everybody trying to push something, there is no safe, guarantied information to rich.
So I am bringing this matter to POST A NEW TOPIC world, here it goes:

PROCESSOR: Intel® Core™2 Extreme processor QX6800 ?

I don't know is there any considerably more valuable and reliable MOB other than:
Intel® Desktop Board D975XBX2 for it ??

In my opinion Noise factor is the next most important item. So a cooling system that is quiet as water, (or some liquid). That would be a Case that has a superb water
cooling system it self or an external water cooling system that goes with certain Case.

Thermaltake Orchestra is one I know.

Hard disks I have no idea except it going to be Seagate or Maxtor!!!

I need two monitors so I don't know if MOB supports it or not, presume it doesn't I need a Video card that supports two DI out.

A good writer of both kinds. Meaning it would write on anything and would anything safe and fast.

Anything that anybody would like to add or point out about this list please do so, and I hope I did not sound so incredibly pretentious or dumb while making this post and all help and comments are welcomed and appreciated,

Cem

Since you said you do audio and video a lot, my first suggestion would be... get a Mac.

It all depends on your budget and how much you think you will expend it in the futher. I believe the deciding factor on mother board should be the amount and type of RAM it can handle as well as the type of ports (and expension) avilable.

In short, you should get faster RAM and as much amount of RAM possible.

Noise factor? Besides getting a Mac, you might need to change the fan for quite ones. Sorry, I don't know much more about fan.

As for dual monitor setup, it depends on the video card.

The QX6800 is the fastest desktop CPU on the market. I'd go with a P965 based motherboard over the 975X chipset though.

about MAC

Postby cem » Sun 22 Apr, 2007 8:12 pm

If the only concern I have was the computer then I would certainly suggest nothing but a Mac Pro and OS X, yet in a slightly warped out truth where I found myself,
I wonder about how to get all the plug-ins that I would need to get the various jobs done, which literally would be like 25 G, easy!? I can afford PC, OS, and all the major software, but I hate to admit there is no way I can afford the rest! Not to mention there are lots of other equipment I had to or have to have. With Mac I had experienced lot's of grief NOT being able to build an arsenal of tools; effects, soft instruments, various plug-ins would literally adds up to be thousands. I don't make any mentionable amount of money yet, but when I do, I will buy every little bits of software I use. But in order to afford them I need to use them!
So I have to stick with Intel with frikin' XP Pro here...

Ram is good:) I couldn't agree more.
Lots of Fast Ram, Safe and Fast Storage, Silence, and Serious Processing power. These are what I need most and in that order..

P965 based motherboard over the 975X chipset?

Postby cem » Sun 22 Apr, 2007 8:21 pm

Now see, these kind of information here makes me worried! I thought, with little that I know 975X is 'THE CHIPSET' and now I have to think again, harder! Please would you elaborate on that a bit? Why should one choose P965 over 975X for a QX6800 :?:
Thanks much for the effort and time by the way for both of you, I appreciate it.

The P965 chipset is newer and slightly faster and uses less power. The 975X chipset is old and outdated, being launched way back in 2005. The only other chipset worth considering is the Nforce 680i if you want to run dual Nvidia graphics cards in SLI. Intel chipsets can't do that. (Though they can support dual Ati cards in Crossfire)
