Thunderbird Links denied

Postby Fsylvain » Sat 23 Jun, 2007 8:14 pm

Greetings! thanks in advance for your help.

I have recently installed Thunderbird in order to better manage my various e-mail accounts. So far I have only one problem. Any links I clik on do nothing. The Error Console shows the URL's as being "denied."
I do not have this problem in FireFox or other e-mail programs.

How can I correct this?

- By this do you mean a URL address that is embedded within an email?

Does Thunderbird otherwise work alright? Or are there any other difficulties?

URL Denied in Thunderbird

Postby Fsylvain » Sun 24 Jun, 2007 2:47 pm

Hi PaulD

I am unable to go to any URL address that is embedded within an email or that Thunderbird provides. I find a number error messages in the list created by Error Console, such as: Error: uncaught exception: Load of http://www.imakenews.com/alphasoftware/ ... 190704.cfm denied.
or
Error: [Exception... "'Component does not have requested interface' when calling method: [nsIInterfaceRequestor::getInterface]" nsresult: "0x80004002 (NS_NOINTERFACE)" location: "<unknown>" data: no]

User Agent/BuildID = Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.4) Gecko/20070515 Firefox/2.0.0.4 - Build ID: 2007051502

I have been using Juno and Outlook for my e-mail up to now. Embedded URL's open in IE7 unless I copy them to FireFox.

Every thing else seems to work ok.

Thanks for helping.

URL links OK

My thanks to all of you in the community who tried to help me.

I have resolved my problem. I went to "Set Program Access and Defaults" and enabled access to Thunderbird and FireFox, setting them as default.

As soon I did this I was able to load URL's as expected.

Your help was greatly appreciated.

And, the only way to make sure, is to have Custom settings. I have done that such a long time ago that I did not think that it was the problem. The take home message to anyone who does not use IE, is to set custom settings. I have heard of people having problems every time that there was a Windows Update. Not here.
