So I have an additional question. Is there no need to remove Mozilla mail with all of the old information? When I look at the "add/remove software" option in the Control Panel, it lists Mozilla mail as one of the installed items, but the column for "size" is blank.
Since [before Humpd pointed me to the way to fix my default mail problem] it appeared that all of the info [mail, addresses, etc] that's now in my Thunderbird program was still there under the old Mozilla mail, I thought that the data was in two places?
