Ad-aware Standard Edition 6.0 is available

Postby Dennis L. » Wed 05 Feb, 2003 12:04 pm

Hi folks

For those who use and waiting for Ad-aware's newest release, it is now available. There home site is up, but is still under contruction, the forum site seems to be stable. Here is a page that contains a "list of download" sites.

As with any "new release"... travel with caution. Have up-to-date backups, well maintained file sets. As for myself, I'll wait a week and monitor the threads. Anyone taking the plunge.... KEEP US POSTED.
Thanks

I have run the program and scanned several times, and I have had no problems. I encourage people to download and try the freeware version.

Indeed, I was running 5.83 - and version 6 detected two new types of spyware the old one did not.

Well Ghostman tell you what I think. When you installed adaware V6 you did not click on the link to immediately update it. Neither did I and it did not pick anything up. Then I updated it and bam! A great list of spyware sat on my machine appeared.

Try it

In addition to AdAware 6, I use Spybot as well. Both work very well on my system and I am pretty sure I am free from spyware. It doesn't hurt to have both, in my opinion.

Not only it does not hurt, but it is highly recommended.
Another decent anti-spyware is Spy Sweeper, from http://www.webroot.com I think that it is the same outfit which makes MailWasher.
