Administrative Know How!

Postby An Enquirer » Sat 14 Jul, 2007 12:36 am

Hi Everyone

Att Moderators: I wasn't quite sure where to post this query since I was unable to find a question and answer thread anywhere, so I settled for the lounge. If it belongs in a more appropriate place, please move it to its fitting place.

This is my issue. I'm a site administrator at a Christian forum who has had more than my fair share of problems with spammers. I've managed to solve the majority of them but there is one that has been a continual thorn in my side for years now.

My "membership registry" is being spammed by as many as 50 psuedo members on a daily basis and I'm at my wits end over how to put an end to it once and for all. Do any of you technical experts have any suggestions? Any input would be more than well appreciated. 8-)

Sorry for a late reply.

I frequent a forum whose owner has the same problem as you. He simply goes through the database manually and deletes the offending users.

That may be the only way to do it.

You might also want to require your users to register with a valid e-mail address and try for some type of automated process, if the e-mail address is not valid, the user cannot post.
