*UNABLE TO INITIALIZE MEMORY STREAM* - NS Problem

Postby sepa » Wed 17 Oct, 2007 11:25 am

I switched over to NS 9 as my browser and NS 7.2 as my mail client. I used NS 4.x previously.

Since switching to these 2 pgms. my browser and mail client would suddenly decide not to open giving the following message: "UNABLE TO INITIALIZE MEMORY STREAM".

I tried re-installing the NS programs and for a while it worked. Now that too does not seem to work.

Does anybody have any idea what this means amd how I could get around this?

I also have these 2 pgms. installed on another machine with no problems.

Many thanks.

It may have been a coincidence, but the problem has nothing to do with the individual programs, which are, also, independent. A Search for the terms which you listed, brought up a couple of links related to Malware. Another, more specifically, refers to the Halloween virus.
Otherwise, I would not know. Try the second link first.

Fulvio:

much thanks. I think you are right - it may be a virus. I will post my findings shortly. Thank you again - you have been very helpful.
