VMware has announced the release and immediate availability of VMware Fusion 1.1, the first major update since its release in [sdt=13740]August[/sdt] this year, and with Mac OS X v10.5 Leopard support.

VMware Fusion 1.1 also improved support for Microsoft Windows 3D graphics with experimental support for DirectX 9.0. While DirectX 3D graphics is supported, it does not yet support shaders.

Similar to Parallels Desktop for Mac, VMware Fusion 1.1 supports using Windows Vista Boot Camp partitions as virtual machines, added find and search support for Windows Start menu items, and can display the Windows Start menu and task bar via Unity. A beta version of VMware Importer is also available, allowing users to import Parallels Desktop 2.5 and 3.0 virtual systems. For more detail, please refer to VMWare Fusion Release Notes.
