Thanks Hansh for the heads-up.

The Releases Notes indicates Netscape Navigator 9.0.0.5 includes
Security Fixes
These security fixes included in Mozilla Firefox 2.0.0.11 have been included in Netscape Navigator 9.0.0.5.

Firefox 2.0.0.11 was actually bug fixing (introduced on Firefox 2.0.0.10), rather than security fixes.

And, I still cannot get to windows updates, although I have the same version of IE Tab which works with FF2.0.0.11.

hansh,
it is hopeless. I uninstalled my IE Tab, and then reinstall it. I have IE7, and I get the same message as before, part of which is:
To use this site, you must be running Microsoft Internet Explorer 5 or later.
. I, even double checked the path, to no avail.
The important thing is that I can get into Windows Update using Firefox or Seamonkey.
I don't know what's wrong with Navigator9.

Well... this upgrade has been an unmitigated disaster. I cannot navigate anywhere without this appearing: onLookup Failed 55 1. What on earth this means is beyond me. The browser is completely useless until this can be resolved. Any answers?

Have you tried uninstalling Netscape, then deleting the Netscape folder in your 'Program Files' directory? (it's always a good idea to keep your \Netscape\Plugins directory though) After that, you should be able to do a clean install of Netscape.

Another possibility is that your profile has been corrupted somehow. If you run the Netscape executable from the 'run prompt' (i.e. start, run or winkey + r on Vista) and add [tt]-ProfileManager[/tt] to the end you can access the profile manager (e.g. [tt]"C:\Program Files\Netscape\Netscape.exe" -ProfileManager[/tt]). Does this error still come up with a clean profile?

Thanks for the tip, Mandrake. I don't think I'll bother. It's not worth the hassle to me. I said I would try Navigator and my experiment failed after a month. Firefox has never failed me (nor has Opera for that matter). I'll probably dump it but I was curious as to whether others were experiencing the same problem. What on earth does the error message mean?

Fulvio,

Hansh asked me to post those two photos. Those photos shows IE tab used in Netscape 9.0.0.5

Evidently it was McAfee's Site Advisor that needed updating. Once that was accomplished, the error message disappeared.

Too much to quote. It is not that I don't believe that hansh was using the IE engine with IE Tab. I can do it too. But there is a problem with the Windows Update site. And, only with Navigator9.x, not Firefox2.x.
As for other sites I do show the switch to the IE engine. Even msnbc.msn.com works fine, and shows its videos.

Unfortunately the error message is back this morning which is an unworkable situation. I could either uninstall McAfee SiteAdvisor or disable it, but why should I do that? It works fine with FF just not with NN. That being the case, I suppose it's back to uninstalling NN. Oh well....

I gave you a detailed reply at ufaq.org.
It is not the browser which is at fault, but, rather the add-on. Again, I am using SA v.26.5, and I don't use Google as a search engine.
