Apple released QuickTime 7.4 and iTunes 7.6 yesterday for both Mac OS X and Windows. QuickTime 7.4 addresses security issues and box fixes and iTunes 7.6 introduces movie rentals feature (announced yesterday during MWSF08) from iTunes Store.

A good news about QuickTime 7.4 is that Apple fixed the anamorphic videos (a bug introduced in QT7.3, QT 7.3 Player applied the needed horizontal expansion twice.)

Anamorphic encoded video is noticed when encoding with Turbo.264 and applying Apple TV based settings.

Thanks for fixing this bug, Apple.

Apple posted QuickTime 7.4.1 which addresses security issues and improves compatibility with third-party applications.

Apple did not mention what third party applications' compatibility were fixed, however, it is believed to be Adobe After Effects.
