Why Apple is ditching the disc?

As I mentioned in [sdt=14371]MacBook Air[/sdt] thread, how often do we need to access optical media (on the road) and there's Remote Disc introduced. Also for those who really need one, there's an external MacBook Air SuperDrive (MB397G/A) available.

Minyanville says that Apple's move is to push everybody to download music and movies from its iTunes Store.
