Thanks for the heads-up. Interesting that they rushed this out ahead of Firefox's release this coming Tuesday. And I see that IE 8 will come out in August. Some interesting things are coming our way! :)

I like it

Have been test browsing Opera 9.5 for a couple of days on a XP machine now and find it an elegant, powerful and very usable browser. Bookmark management is great, the browser window doesn't hog a great deal of screen real estate and all the major functions are 'within easy reach'. Excellent GUI design too (== I haven't even been temped to try out any alternative themes!)

I am still fighting on a regular basis with MS IE 7 (I am genuinely baffled how >80% of all users still prefer that over alternatives); my current browser of choice still is FF or SeaMonkey, mainly because of the extensions I am using; but if I'd ever get stranded without the latter two, I'd definitely manage to be very happy with this version.

Got the feeling that this browser is the browser equivalent of a Saab 9.5.

Well... after a few days of browsing with 9.5, I'm no longer so sure. I've found it a bit slow to render pages. Sometimes I'll be loading a page, haven't a clue to how much of the page has been loaded and then.. DONE.. nothing. Obviously I'll need to change some of the settings but so far, out of the box, I'm not overly impressed. It seems as though this thing was "rushed" out and I wonder if this was done to "beat" Firefox's big day, tomorrow??? :?

In Linux, I still can't print footers with Opera. I've given up trying.

I hear your frustration, Edward. I was unable to forward mail. It just sat in my Outbox and that was that. I tried work arounds from suggestions on "another" forum and eventually copied and pasted the email to my T-bird client in order to send them on their way. In my frustration I dumped Opera. Since purchasing our new computers I have not bothered to download and install it. I'm too happy with both Firefox (even IE on occasion) so why bother?

Have you tried comparing outgoing mail settings in Thunderbird and Opera? What email provider do you use? Make sure the mail setup matches their recommended settings. Also, going to http://my.opera.com/community/forums/ may help. :)

I am no Linux person, but on Windows header and footer option is in File=>Print Options...

Yup! Everything matched. I did go to the Opera forum and there other posters admitted to the same issues. I tried every workaround I could until in frustration after several days I did what I mentioned above. I'm not opposed to Opera by any means. It's an incredible browser. But for me, I'm sticking with FF which to date hasn't presented any issues. Thanks.

Hello, Michael.
You have posted in the Opera forum: is this because you are considering using Opera?

I don't understand your saying "browser for a win 98 ... that can't even get a FF".
- You "can't even get" it because ... what?

Please be informed that Firefox 2 is supported on Windows 98. See here. It can be downloaded from here.

I have a pre-release FF2 running on Windows 95 on a 48 MB 200 MHz machine. Slow, but functional. You should be able to run FF on your system.
