An Excellent overview of 'Nehalem'

Postby Mandrake » Tue 26 Aug, 2008 12:50 pm

At IDF (Intel Developer Forum) just last week there was a terrific Keynote on the next-generation Nehalem micro-architecture by Rajesh Kumar, who led the Nehalem project.

It provides a fascinating insight into the power behind the architecture that will be powering new PCs and servers for the next few years. The best news is that quad core CPUs based on this new architecture are scheduled to become available in the fourth calender quarter of this year.

A 3.2GHz quad core CPU with eight threads and access to 32GB/s of memory bandwidth is just stunning. I'll take one! :)
