After releasing iTunes 7.7 just a day before the availabilities of iPhone 3G (in 22 countries), Apple has the first update to it. iTunes 7.7.1 includes fixes to improve stability and performance.

Use iTunes 7.7 to sync music, video, and more with iPhone 3G, and download applications from the iTunes Store exclusively designed for iPhone and iPod touch with software version 2.0 or later. Also use the new Remote application for iPhone or iPod touch to control iTunes playback from anywhere in your home — a free download from the App Store.

iTunes 7.7.1 includes fixes to improve stability and performance.

iTunes 7.7.1 is available through iTunes website or from Apple Software Update.

It is nice to have these updates, but can't Apple devise a less cumbersome method? The download file exceeds 70MB, and the installation takes a minimum of 15 min. I am sure that some of us can do it faster, but many more slowly than me.

I gave up on iTunes some time ago. Why should a simple media player download be over 70MB to download? That's even worse than Adobe Reader!

Other media players like musikCube and Winamp 5.5 are each well under 10MB a piece and consume far less resources.

Good point. Except iTunes is more than a media player.
