After the release of iTunes 8.0.2, Apple also released iPhone Software 2.2 to iPhone and iPod touch users today.
Apple mentioned following enhancements in iPhone 2.2 Software Update for iPhone and iPod touch:
- Enhancements to Maps (iPhone only)
- Google Street View
- ppublic transit and walking directions
- display address of dropped pins
- share location via email - Enhancements of Mail
- resolved isolated issues with scheduled fetching of email
- improved formatting of wide HTML email - Fixed issues where some users could not connect to secure SPA Wi-Fi networks.
- Improved stability and performance of Safari.
- Podcasts are now available for download in iTunes application (over Wi-Fi and cellular network). (iPhone only)
- Podcasts are now available for download in iTunes application. (iPod touch only)
- Decrease in call set-up failures and call drops. (iPhone only)
- Improved sound quality of visual voicemail messages. (iPhone only)
- Pressing the Home button from any Home screen takes you to the first Home screen.
- Fixed bugs causing hangs and crashes for users with lots of third party applications.
- Preference to turn on/off auto-correction in Keyboard Settings.
