Deleting entries in address book

Postby jpChris » Tue 25 Nov, 2008 11:39 pm

Hi all,

I have several entries in my SM 1.1.12 address book and I can't figure out how to delete them. I've tried "edit" and taken out all the information, but it won't accept it.

I've looked everywhere (except the right place, of course) and there's no place to click "delete" or anything. Just Edit and New.

TIA.
Chris

If you look at the list of names in your address book, you will see on top a toolbar, which includes Delete. All you have to do is to highlight the address, and click delete. An alternate method is to highlight the address, and right click|delete.
I have never heard of using Edit.

Hi Fulvio,

You wrote: "If you look at the list of names in your address book, you will see on top a toolbar, which includes Delete."

That's what I COULDN'T find (emphasis, not shouting). When I'm in the Compose Window and I open my address book, there's nothing there except the addresses, CC, Bcc, etc., no delete. I checked the Help file and read everything having to do with the address book. No joy.

What I WAS (again, emphasis, not shouting) able to dope out, and there's no mention of it that I could find in the Help section, is to click "Window", then click "Address Book".

When I do that, then I get the window you're referring to. If I didn't click on everything looking for what I was looking for, I'd have never found it.

Shouldn't there be an option to delete an address from the Compose, Address Book window?

Thanks.
Chris

I think you have to be in the Address Book independently (not accessing it while composing an e-mail message).

In the lower left corner of the SM screen, there is an icon that looks like a small Rolodex card with a person on it, that is the Address Book. Once you highlight an entry in it, click the Delete icon. Once it's deleted, it's gone.

Hi Ed,

Thanks for the info for an additional place to access the address book. What I'd kinda like to know is, why what you said isn't anywhere in the Help list?

Well, at first glance, the developers probably forgot.

Might be worth filing a bug report on.

I never rely on the Help menu, because they put things there in a way that I don't understand, half of the time.
But, if you
in the Compose Window and I open my address book
, you have opened the AB independently, although why would I want to delete anything starting from the compose window? However, if you highlight the address, right click, you will see Delete.
Are describing the AB as the Sidebar, to the left of the message space?
