Postby DiscoFever » Sat 15 Mar, 2008 9:13 am

It's been a while since posted anything. I'm having trouble with firefox. no sound at all on all sites. The sound is fine on IE and Opera and Seamonkey. Any Help will be greatly appreciated.

At: Tools > Options > Content > File Types > Manage,
what do you have for the Actions associated with the various Extensions / File Types?
Compare these with the ones that are set in the other browsers.

Paul, before getting to read your reply. I uninstalled Firefox, thinking that maybe it would work the second time around. But now It's downloaded, ready to go. I click the Icon and Nothing happens. Looks like it wants to open, but it wont. I don't know where to go from this point.

Thanks :(

Uninstall Firefox completely, including the profile, then try again. If you have the programs installed, Firefox should pick them up. You don't need the usual plugin install. I, never, had any sound problem with any Firefox, or related browser.

Fulvio, I've tried all that. No Luck. I click the icon, the little hour glass shows as if it's going to open, then it goes away and that's it. Right now I'll stick with seamonkey.

Do you mean that you removed Firefox, as well as its profile? And, then, started from scratch?
By starting from scratch, you would remove any possible problems in the profile. Otherwise, your installation would pick up the existing profile.
But if you did that, and still no luck, there is nothing more that I can say.

Well now, this may be a challenge.

"I uninstalled Firefox"
Using the 'Add or Remove Programs' function in the Control Panel, correct?
- And Firefox does not show up still in the (above) list?
When you installed Firefox previously, did you do the Standard install or a Custom install?
Do you have any folder in C:\Program Folders\ that you recognize as being Firefox related?

"But now It's downloaded"
Did you do a new download?
- If so, why?
- - Because you thought that the previous one may have been faulty?
What is the size? Firefox Setup 2.0.0.12.exe should be at or close to 5,889 KB.

"I click the icon, the little hour glass shows as if it's going to open"
What icon? Is this an icon representing the Firefox download?

Would you be comfortable doing Registry editing if this situation comes to that?

Paul, i went through the computer removed every trace of Mozilla and Firefox (even from the registry) gave it one more try. And it worked. I don't know what caused the problem in the first place, but i do appreciate the feedback from you and Fulvio.

Gotta go to work!....have a good day.
