Apple has announced the release of iLife '09 suite with major upgrades to iPhoto, iMovie and GarageBand, and includes iDVD and an updated version of iWeb.

New features found in iPhoto '09 include face detection technology, GPS geotagging for sorting images by place and including maps in printed books, direct uploading to Facebook and Flikr, and new slideshow themes, including a shattered theme that breaks up photos and recomposes them.

Places automatically imports photo location data from a GPS-enabled camera or any iPhone or you can manually assign a location to any photo, group of photos or event. Once iPhoto knows where photos were taken, you can easily explore them with a simple search or an interactive map.

iWeb ’09 adds new iWeb Widgets, such as iSight video and photos, a countdown timer, YouTube video and RSS feeds. New integrated FTP publishing allows you to publish your website to virtually any hosting service and updates to your site can now be automatically added to your Facebook profile.

iLife ’09 requires Mac OS X version 10.5.6 or later, a Macintosh computer with an Intel processor, a PowerPC G5 or 867 MHz or faster PowerPC G4, 512MB of RAM (1GB recommended), QuickTime 7.5.5 or later (included), a DVD drive for installation and 4GB of available disk space. iPhoto print services and GarageBand Artist Lessons are available in select countries.

For more detail about iLife '09 and new features on iMovie ’09, iDVD ’09 and GarageBand ’09, please refer to www.apple.com/ilife.

iLife ’09 will be available this January for a suggested retail price of $79 (USD) single user license or $99 (USD) for a family pack. If you bought a new Mac on or after 6th January 2009, and the Mac does not contain the new iLife ’09, you can get the iLife Up-To-Date upgrade package $9.95 (USD) shipping and handling fee.

Some of you may know that I recently bought Sony GPS-CS1KASP, a GPS location recording device designed for digital cameras and camcorders.

Good to know that the iPhoto '09 would Location (GPS) support. ;-)
