Netscape 7 does work under windows 95.

Hi,
Even though the netscape download page tells you that netscape 7 requires windows 98 or higher it does work in windows 95 but it is not supported.
So what that means if you want to use netscape 7 under windows 95 do it and you do not have to worry in fact it works on a 177 mhz porcesser computer that I have and it netscape sais that you need a 233 mhz porcessre to use it = wrong.
That I hope is some useful info for you all.

Interesting observation. Maybe the AOL ads need Win98? :D

As Netscape 7.0x are pretty much Mozilla 1.0x, I wouldn't be suprised if it worked on Win95. The reason for it not being supported is either that they never tested it, or some of the add-on garbage doesn't work in Win95. Netscape itself should be just fine, however.

Does it work or not? That is the only important question. I had it on a 166 Mhz and 40 MB RAM, and it worked. Don't pay attention to anything that says not supported.

Last spring I bought Adobe Photshop Elements 2, got home and read the box panel... OS requirements w98 and above. At the time, I was running w95. Called where I purchased the program and talked to the manager to advise I would be returning it. He assured me it would work.. because he was running with w95. He suggested the OS listing was all "Politics". Once MS no longer supported w95, they strongly encourage software companies to DROP w95 off there list for minimum OS requirements..... even if it WORKED with w95. Still does not explain why Netscape took it off (unless AOL decsion), but for the run of the mill software company... think there going to argued with MS.

Any program that doesn't depend on Win98's unicode support, IE libraries or DirectX > 8.0 will probably work just fine on Win95 (although it might require OS updates).
