7.1 Address Book Challenge

Postby candace » Mon 28 Apr, 2003 12:51 pm

Hi-Is it possible to move, like drag and drop, a collected address to another address book? Or to edit an existing entry so the address is then in another address book?
Also, when the "new card" dialog box is open I cannot see the OKAY button at the bottom to save the entry...have to close my task bar, grab the title bar and move the dialog box up as far as possible so I can click the Okay button.; can I resize that dialog box or whaaaaat? Thx. Candace

candace,

You are correct, Drag and Drop will copy from one address book to another.

With the selected Address book open,go to the right panel, Select the entry that you want to COPY and with the left mouse button depresed, drag to the left panel addressbook that you want to copy to and release. You can select multiple entries by holding down the "ctrl" key as you make the selections.

This will COPY the entry but does not remove it from the original address book.

As to the re-sizeing, I don't think you can resize this screen. If the "ok" button is not visible when you drag the title bar up as far as it will go just hit the "enter" key, this is the equivalant of hitting the "OK" button.

Hope this helps.

Speaking of dragging addresses between books, I don't know if this is the case for Windows users, but in NS7.02 Macintosh, OS 9.2, there is no visual confirmation of this action other than that it shows up in the destination address book.

What I mean is, you drag the address to the icon for the destination book, but the book's icon doesn't darken, highlight, flash, or whatever. It looks like nothing has happened, but lo and behold, when you check the destination book, the copied address is there.

Yet another of several annoying cosmetic interface inadequacies (the others? just ask me ... I'd be happy to rant) in Netscape 7.02. At least on a Mac in OS 9.2.

There is no comfirmation of any kind in Win98, either. In fact, I began to copy(and drag and drop means copy in AB), I could see no difference in the list that I was copying from. But, there was a change. You have to have religion to proceed blindly(i.e. have faith that it will happen).
Personall, I would like to have both list open, side by side. This is a minor problem to me.
