I have Netscape 6.2.3 installed on my PC will I need to uninstall it before I can start downloading/installing Netscape 7?

It's not strictly necessary to uninstall 6.2.3 before installing 7.0, but I'd say
it's probably a wise move to do so, and to remove your Netscape 6 folder,
or the Netscape 7, will simply overwrite your existing installation of NS6.
It'd be much better to have Netscape 7 in it's own freshly created new
folders rather than the folder, labelled and prevoiusly occupied by an
older (and somewhat less reliable) version of the same software.

Good question. IMO, once N7.0 Final is released, N6.2.x will be obsolete.
Although 6.2.x was already obsolete when 7.0PR1 became available, the
forthcoming 7.0 final release will make the obsolesence of N6.2.x official.

I did not do the Installation of NS7 in any traditional way. For some reason, I decided to put program and profile in a single folder on my D drive. I was told that everything would be transferred from 6.2.3 to 7, but in a new profile, because there is a considerable difference between 6.2.3 and 7, and there have been some problem when a single profile was used.
I have kept 6.2.3, mainly for comparison, but, I would go ahead, and install NS7 in a folder different from 6.2.3, let the program guide you about the profile part, and if everything is in order, just go to the Add/Remove, and uninstall 6.2.3.
