OK, I'll have to look for it. It was just a link from The Netscape Champions newsgroup. I think I saved it though. Be right back, k. Here it is, this is not official just so you know.

Love the new design

Postby Jan » Tue 27 Aug, 2002 7:20 pm

Hi Antony, I just love the new design. It really rocks. I have been away for some time due to my illness. I am back now. Glad to be too. Take care.

Hi Jan, and welcome back!

I just saw this posted on the Netscape 7 NG, possibly where you found the link for the download:

very strange, all the folders in netscape 7 are empty from here. Whats
going on? (using 7 PR1) And yet if I go to ftp.netscape.com/pub/netscape7/english/7.0 (which shows up as empty) and type /windows/ on the end I get the download!

It's called blind directories. This is normally done when situations and
configurations are being tested. Folks here have guessed at a directory
location and found some bits. That's all. Doesn't mean they are the
final NS7 bits, but there's something that's for sure.

ooops, does that mean that I should have waited to download NS7? I haven't installed it yet though. Should I wait - and for what, do you think? I am moving on up from NC4.78, finally...

Monica

It likely won't hurt to install it. Just back up your USER directories
as I suggested in my other post to you. Worse case, if you find out
later down the road that what you downloaded indeed not the 'final' code
for the software, you can always download it again and install once again.

I would 'guess' that you are fine to go head with your install and enjoy
the software.

Wow! The download is 32+ MB, and that's a lot of fluff and stuff. I think I'll wait for the Silly Dog version....

Hi Ramona, yep you are right. That's where I got the link. It is just that Netscape has not made an official announcement. Probably tomorrow. It is a huge download, took me 2 hours as I am on dial-up. I just love it. Thanks for the welcome back.

Or, you could wait for the DJGM-i Distros as well. But, please don't mither
me for info on those. As yet, they don't even exist, and I haven't decided
yet, whether to offer the usual four "editions" or cut it down to just three.

First of all, I shall download this new official release, I shall evalaute it, and
make my decision on exactly how I intend to compile the all new Distros
as soon as possible after that. Once I have my all important decision
or decisions, I shall post the relevant information on this forum.
Most likely, I shall start I new thread for this purpose, and
disclose whatever details are necessary to be disclosed
just as absolutely soon as I possibly can.

As for that 32Mb download of the official release, you should take note that
the seemingly large download size, is not just the Netscape 7 web browser
suite alone, but also a number of optional 3rd party add-ons and plugins.
Most likely these will include RealPlayer (hopefully NOT RealOne), plus
the latest Sun Java2, and of course Winamp (hopefully 2.8, not 3.0).

Anyway, as for my new N7 DJGM-i Distros, they should hopefully all be
available for free download when I reopen the main Club Netscape site
next month. I have temporarily closed the site to make sure that it all
validates correctly as HTML 4.01 Transitional, and to give me ample
time to put together the Distros. Bear in mind though, I'm not giving
the site an extensive overhaul, with a radical new layout and design,
although I will be at least giving it a new logo banner. Any other
changes I decide to make will remain between me and my PC,
until the site is officially reopened next month.

Not now. It went bye-bye. I will wait for a few days, and give you the chance to slimmed it or distro it.

Well, I just read in the NS7 NG, that the FTP site is closed again. So, Antony, it was nice of you to mirror it for us. I am just like a kid at Christmas with this stuff. It comes with RealPlayer, not (RealOne), I had Winamp 3 installed and did not install there Winamp. I think Winamp 3 rocks.

If you get Error 421 from my FTP server, it simply means too busy. I currently can handle 200 concurrent users, I will get this number increased.
